This violin was made in the workshop of the highly esteemed maker Edgar Russ, whose workshop is on Via Maura Macchi in Cremona.  Edgar Russ has been making instruments since 1984. He attended the world-renowned international violin making school “Scuola Internazionale di Liuteria, Antonio Stradivari”and has always had an interest in beauty and tonal power which is well represented with this fine example. This violin is part of Edgar Russ’s Scala Perfetta line. The back of this violin is a beautifully flamed one piece back. The varnish is a reddish gold color on both the top plate and the back. The timbre of the instrument is on the sweeter end of the spectrum and is very powerful. It responds quickly and is comfortably sized. This violin would be perfect for any advanced student looking for a fine instrument with which to develop sound and expressivity.
