Karoly de Ferenczy (b.1863, Budpest; d.1902, New York) apprenticed with Thomas Zach in Vienna and then worked for Schunde where Ferenczy made number of instruments for his employers’ label. He moved to Berlin in 1888 and then Ferenczy moved to Rotterdam to work. He emigated to New York in 1902 and unfortunately died that year. He was known for his refined and authentic work using the Stadivari model.
The violin plays with a pure bell-like resonance and has a confident response under the bow. We love how the violin speaks with clarity and brilliance in all the registers to bring new life to every note played on it. Please grab your favorite concerto and come play this violin!
