Widely celebrated and highly regarded in the world of violin making (both from an artistic and intellectually based collaboration), Elisa Scrollavezza and Andreas Zanre founded their Atelier in 2002 (Parma, Italy) to continue the tradition of making the finest string instruments for accomplished musicians. This viola is a copy of the famous “Cozio” G.B. Guadagnini 1773 viola that Givens Violins took care of for many years. It is a successful small model with a back length of 15 7/8″. In fact, the “Cozio” was the first of this model that Giovanni Battista Guadagnini made for Count Cozio and he continued to use this as his primary viola model for the rest of his career. This viola has an even, rich, and sonorous sound. The C string rings deeply and powerfully, while the A string sparkles and shines in the higher register. The entire range is very responsive; allowing it to produce a multitude of colors for a professional player.
