Scott Zumberge (b. 1953, d. 1993) was born on a military base in Arkansas and returned to Minneapolis with his family in 1955.  As he was growing up, Scott was fascinated with playing a variety of musical instruments and working with his hands.  As a teen, he made an electric bass guitar of superb quality and piqued the interest of a Minneapolis music store resulting in a job repairing guitars and band instruments.  However, Scott yearned to make a violin.  On his own volition and spirit of inquiry, he pored over books about violin making and eventually found himself working with the Dahl Violin Shop.  In 1976, Scott established his own violin shop.  In addition, he did bow repair work for Givens Violins.  Now, Givens Violins is thrilled to offer his fine viola made in 1985.  Scott’s violas are modeled after those of Dahl and Guadanini.
