Auguste Darte (1830 – 1892) was a well-known French maker who worked in Mirecourt from 1865. He was the student, son-in-law, and successor of Nicolas Vuillaume. He also worked several years with Jean-Baptise Vuillaume before returning to his brother, Nicolas, and eventually take over the workshop. Darte is known for his Stradivarian modelling- specifically in the outline and soundholes of the instrument. This violin has a powerful, rounded and open sound. It has a deep lower end and wonderful clarity all around. This violin would be perfect for a serious violinist.
