Charles Jacquot (b. 1804, Mirecourt; d.1880, Paris) first apprenticed in his hometown of Mirecourt in 1819, before relocating to Nancy in 1823 to establish his own luthier business in 1827.
Jacquot based his violins on the classic work of Stradivari, Guarneri, and Maggini The label reads “Charles Jacquot a Nancy, Rue de la Poissonnerie” with notations of the awards he received. The violin is branded internally on the back in all four corners with the name Jacquot-Nancy.
Playing the violin is an incredible experience. The violin is powerful, richly colored, velvety, expressive, and deeply satisfying. This lovely violin, with a caramel brown varnish and one piece back, allows the player to explore a vast array of technical possibilities, dynamics, and immediate response. The serious or professional player will discover a powerful violin for orchestral, solo, and chamber work.
