Enrico Marchetti (b.1855, d.1930) was inspired by the greatest northern Italian classical makers and is regarded as one of the most skilled representatives of the Turin school in the early 20th century. He noted on his labels the number of medals he won at competitions and this violin was made after winning 15 medals. He was awarded more than 20 gold medals throughout his career. This violin is branded on the inside “E. Marchetti.” It has an attractive appearance with a handsome golden-amber varnish and a 2 piece back with very distinct medium flames. It produces a gorgeous sultry and warm timbre that almost floats from the instrument. The strings respond immediately to all nuance and it is very comfortable to play. This instrument would be perfect for a professional violinist.
