This eye-catching violin was made in 1937 by Jules Lavest, a French luthier and violin dealer active between 1920 to 1950. His violins are distinguished by their richly pigmented varnishes.
Through the violin f-hole you can see the brand “L. Vest” above the label bearing his signature and the inscription “Exposition Internationale Paris 1937 medaille d’or (gold medal).”
The Lavest has a crystalline and robust tone with marvelous resonance. The player will experience superb sound projection and a fast response time over the well-balanced timbre between the high and low registers. This violin is well-suited for advancing or professional soloists or chamber musicians.
