Micheal Yeats is an American bow maker now residing and working in the Netherlands. Growing up, he was fascinated by playing music and experimenting with almost all species of wood. Yeats actually started out making instruments in 1975 and was an apprentice baroque and renaissance lute maker with Robert Lundberg. During this time, Yeats made and repaired a plethora of instruments including guitars, concertinas, and pipe organs. It was in 1987 when he began bow work with William Salchow in New York. Soon afterwards, Yeats established his own business repairing and restoring some of the finest bows in the world. The work he did during the ensuing 15 years laid the foundation for his stellar bow making career. His philosophy is quite elegant: he sources only the finest pernambuco wood for his bows.
Come play the Yeats bow! We are confident you may find a new constant companion for your violin! The Yeats plays with carrying power, color, richness, an instantaneous string response, and forms an organic connection with your bow hand. Enjoy, with ease, bowing techniques of your choice with the clarity, definition of sound, and the musical expression you demand. Musicians worldwide play Yeats bows and, in many genres, —classical, jazz, and eclectic – with great happiness.
