Natale Carletti (b. 1904 d. 1979) was the son, student, and successor to Carlo Carletti in Pievo di Cento, Italy. Natale Carletti took over his father’s workshop in 1941. He was a cellist himself and produced approximately 200 cellos, with his most impressive instruments being crafted from 1945-68. This cello has a bold sound that jumps out of the instrument with an instant response. The sound is full and powerful in the low register, transitioning to a focused, clear sound in the upper register. A unique 2-piece back cut on the slab clothed in a beautiful non-antiqued reddish-orange varnish gives the cello a striking look to pair with the powerful sound. This cello would complement an exceptional player looking to play at the highest level.
