The W.E. Hill & Sons workshop was originally founded in 1880 by William Ebsworth Hill and his four sons in London. In 2018, Robert Brewer Young and Stefan-Peter
Greiner renewed the Hill & Sons workshop at the coach house and stables of Burgh House in London Hampstead-a district connected to a bohemian lifestyle and home to musical, artistic, and literary personalities. This fine violin was made in the Hampstead with the detailed precision and tonal capacity of the original Hill workshop.
The violin is based on the Carlo Bergonzi model. The medium-light orange over brown varnish is handsomely antiqued.
Under the hand and bow, the player will be enraptured by the strong personality of the violin with its velvet, mature developed overtones at forte and dulcet pianissimo response with polished resonance. This violin will be especially enjoyed by the ardent or professional chamber and orchestral musician.
