Kim was born in Niagara Falls, NY. She studied French Horn Performance at Purchase College in Harrison, NY, which led her into brass and woodwind repair. In 2015, she moved to Queens, NY, where she first began to do string instrument work. She apprenticed at a major violin shop in New York City for seven years, during which time she began to specialize in bow restoration. She attended summer bow restoration courses at University of New Hampshire (2017 and 2018) and Oberlin College (2019). She relocated to Minneapolis in 2023 to join the Givens Workshop as Bow Restorer. In her free time, Kim enjoys hiking and camping.
